For many people cooking artichokes can be a bit intimidating, but it doesn't need to be the case. This super simple boiled artichoke recipe is easy to make and full of flavour. A perfect appetiser to serve at your next gathering...in your Bordallo Pinheiro dishes of course!
-
Prepare the artichokes by cutting off the stem and the top 2-3cm of the artichoke. Trim the tip of each leaf to remove any thorns.
-
Bring a pot of salted water to the boil. Add the artichokes to the pot, and cook for approximately 30 minutes. Cooking time will depend on the size of the artichoke and large artichokes may take longer. When the leaves pull off easily they are ready.
-
Remove the artichokes from the pot, drain, and allow to cool slightly
-
Serve on one of our large artichoke platters, with a lemon butter sauce (or any other sauce of your choice) in one of our small artichoke bowls.
-
To eat, pull off the leaves, dip the torn end in the sauce, eat this and discard the rest. Once you get to the middle, scrape out the fuzzy choke to reveal the delicious artichoke heart.
